Angelina Jolie meets survivors of the Lampedusa Tragedy

Title - Dying at Europe's Door
Project - A short film with Angelina Jolie that was screened on the Amanpour show on CNN. In it, she meets Syrian refugees who were amongst the very few survivors of the Lampedusa shipweck tragedy in 2013.
Brief – The film-makers wanted a simple and direct piano score that would mirror the story without distracting from the interviews telling the tale. I tried to keep things as muted and as downbeat as possible. And to compose and perform the piece in one-take, enabling the cadences of the music to reflect the emotions on screen.
Result - ‘The score is a great accompaniment to this tragic tale. Capturing the many moments of sadness but also managing to mirror the drama of the actual shipwreck’
